We went there on saturday afternoon and had an incredible lunch.....watched everyone walk by going to the movies and enjoyed the weather.....I was afraid to try eggplant considering My love(not ) for vegetables and was talked into the eggplant parmesan sandwich on foccacia.....it is my new favorite sandwich.....my wife and I shared the signature pizza after reading about it in the Bluffton Today.....it was the best thing since moving from New Jersey...we will be back
Disappointed to say we won't be returning.. My family is new to the area and we could not wait to try Paulie's. We believe in supporting small business owners over the chains and once we find places we like, we continue to give regular business. We particularly like to try new tastes and we had never had "coal fired pizza". We were seated in a room with what appeared to be beige outdoor patio furniture mixed with indoor furniture. The menu offerings were less than expected, but we came for the pizza. We ordered two small "Traditional" pies and garlic bread. Turns out Paulie's definition of coal fired includes charring. Everything we ordered had burned portions. The sauce was very bland and the cheese was rubbery. I kept looking for even a speck of the basil listed in the menu description, nada. Our bill came to $50.00 with a coupon. We do not mind paying for quality, but this simply was not it. For now we will stick to the Pizza Hut two for $11.99 deal, at least I can taste the basil!
Original Paulie's Coal Fired Pizza. The potential for this place could be pretty good if they could get there act together. Don't even think about using a coupon because they have no idea what coupons they send out and even less idea how to ring them up. If you try to use a gift card as we did you will get a ten minute lecture from a teenage manager about how a second company sells the gifts cards for them and they make any money off them.....hey buddy....not my problem I don't run your business; and you should be more concerned with the customer your loosing than justifying your managements advertising decisions. If it was based on food alone even with the high prices I might go back but with the people that run the place, take out or dine in its just not worth the headache.
Looks can be deceiving.. The first time I visited Paulie's it was wonderful. The second time...enormous disappointment. We were seated, orders taken & then completely ignored. Our appetizer came out cold and then the brilliant waitress asked "when did you want your pizza?" Hmm, lemme think about that. When its ready? She laughed. "Oh, its ready now!" Do you think we could have some plates? Ended up taking the whole meal home in boxes. Yeah, the place looks good but we all know looks can be deceiving. One star just for being pretty!
