Learn about the island's history and wildlife from the back of a saddlebred as you wander through scenic forest preserve..
The Appeal
Meander through 600 lush acres of Sea Pines Forest Preserve on horseback to get a feel for true, untouched Lowcountry. Trails wind beneath a canopy of palmettos and moss-covered oaks, past alligator-infested fishing lakes and historic Indian sites. Friendly guides keep an eye on the horses as they give insight into island culture and wildlife.
The Experience
Even-tempered saddlebreds and Western-style saddles make for a comfortable, hour-long ride. After a quick tutorial, it's off to the trail. Trained horses follow the leader for a smooth ride regardless of skill level. The pace is kept at a walk so riders can settle in and comfortably take in the surroundings. Summer groups swell to around 25 people, while coming off-season means more personal attention and fewer horses to keep up with.
