If There is a Wait It's Worth It

by Markay

I am a frequent vacationer to Hilton Head Island and discovered this amazing bakery cafe about seven years ago. I look forward to having every breakfast here on my vacations, and an occasional lunch as well. The deep dish french toast is baked, not fried,so some folks don't understand it -- but I can tell you it is absolutely delicious. I am also partial to the shrimp and grits (as good as I have ever eaten) and the Hen-House, which is a poached egg dish. And, don't miss the pastries -- especially the pecan sticky buns. I must admit, since everything is made to order and fresh, there is sometimes a bit of a wait especially when things are busy (this is not fast food). But, if there is a wait, it is worth it. And the servers are always smiling and friendly.

  • Pros: Tasty and Fresh and Unique. Great pastries.
  • Cons: Occasionally People Have to Wait

Overrated & Skip

by gripdxd

I wish I had better things to say about this place, but I don't. The backroom is dingy and the service is terrible. They don't acknowledge you when you enter and they are SUPER SLOW. The deep dish french toast was bland and it was SOO OVERPRICED! Skip it and don't go. You're better off going to Stacks..

  • Pros: Baked Goods Maybe?
  • Cons: Service, Breakfast, Price & Ambiance

good but overpriced and slow service

by sbdb1200

Signe's has good food but the service is extremely slow. Went there for breakfast and waited well over 45 minutes to receive our food. Needless to say, our two young kids were not happy. Also, we ordered just a few things off the menu and the bill was over $40! That's ridiculous for breakfast.

  • Pros: good food
  • Cons: very slow service, overpriced

WORST SERVICE ON HILTON HEAD ISLAND!

by djwally

I stopped in for 2 cups of soup to go, and 30 minutes later, I was still waiting for my soup. Several people came in after me and got their food, but I was still waiting. I asked about my order, but still no soup! Finally I got back in the line by the cash register to ask one more time before I abandoned all hope, and low and behold there was my soup, right next to the lady at the register, where it had been for some time while she was chatting and checking out other customers who had already eaten. She just "forgot" to call my name - for 15 minutes or more! Finally, I took my cold soup and went home. It's too bad that the service is so terrible at this place because the food was ok for a place that you have to stand in line to order (and stand in line 2 times more to actually get your food). If you have a day with nothing else to do for a few hours, you may want to give it a try!

An island establishment since 1972, this heavenly spot is famous for healthy sandwiches, salads and delectable desserts.

In Short
A mind-boggling selection of homemade sweets tempts diners from a large glass counter where orders are taken. Breakfast and lunch selections focus on freshness while the sweet stuff will bring tears of joy to your eyes. Healthy breakfasts include fluffy frittatas and deep dish French toast, served with sausage and fruit. Hot and cold sandwiches are served on fresh-baked bread for lunch, along with various salads and daily specials.

YUMMY

by sjeystad

This is one of those spots that is not much for atmosphere, you have to go through a counter to order, as an example.

But, once you do... wow. I had the "blueberry french toast" which is really blueberry poundcake, made into french toast. Leave the diet at home for this one. Well, there is a little fruit cup served with the french toast, but you will never get to it!

It was truly the best french toast I have ever had. It was so good, that when we went back there on our last day, all my friends had to order my little treasure from our first time there.

the key lime scone gets an honorable mention as well.
